Club Marshals: The marshal sheets outlining the requirements for each club will be circulated prior to the event. Please meet at the Caledonian Ground at 9.00am to collect vests and get information sheets. The cones and traffic signs will be dropped off at the marshaling points.


Race Information

The Port Chalmers to Dunedin Road Race entry is open to both registered and non-registered athletes. . A sealed handicap race which will apply to registered athletes only. Athletes to be 17 years or over on race day.

Separate individual and team results will be declared for men and women from Athletics Otago registered race entrants, but races will be held concurrently. Three runners will count for both men and women’s teams’ races.

Note this years Port Chalmers to Dunedin Road Race is run in conjunction with the New Zealand Masters Games 12 km Road Race.


Entry Details:

  • All entries and payment of entry fees is to be done online at CLICK HERE by individual athletes who want to run in this event.
  • Entries close on Thursday 1 February at 12.00am (midnight).  Late entries will be accepted for this event up to 9.00am on race day for athletes not in the sealed handicap. Cost of late entries an additional $15.00

Athletes registered with Athletics New Zealand via clubs:                All age groups                         $25.00


Athletes not registered with Athletics New Zealand:                          All age groups                       $35.00

Toilets and Change Rooms: The public toilets near the Hill City – University Clubrooms or those at the Caledonian Ground will be open. There are public toilets at Port Chalmers and there will be a portaloo at the start

Transport to Port Chalmers: There will be a bus available leaving the Caledonian Ground at 9.15am sharp. Bus ride is included in registration fee.

Presentations will be held in level 2 Function Room at 1.00pm.

Medals for the first three in all events will be awarded according to placing in the sealed handicap plus certificates for winning teams in Open men, Open Women Men under 20 and women under 20.

Trophies: The following trophies are available to be awarded to Athletics Otago registered runners:

  • Hooper Cup – Open Men Individual Winner
  • Marshall Cup – Open Men Fastest Time
  • Bevan Richmond Memorial Cup – Open Women Individual Winner
  • Hill City Plate – Open Women Fastest Time
  • Civil Service Centenary Trophy – First Masters 50plus in Port Road Race
  • Frank Perry Memorial Trophy – First six Athletics Otago registered runners from a club to finish in the port Road Race, men or women
  • Nickels Challenge Cup – Club with the lowest aggregate over Port ROAD race and Barnes Cross Country. The first three Athletics Registered Open men across the line from each club count
